The Dice Tower Hey folks! Each year, the Dice Tower runs our annual crowdfunding project, and so I thought I would share a quick note with you all about that. I’m not the biggest fan of asking people for money. I’ve never enjoyed it, and running an annual crowdfunding project is one of my least enjoyable times of the year. But we do it, because the support we get from these crowdfunding projects allows us to put out the content that we do over the course of the year. Someone asked me recently what the goal of the Dice Tower was. And that made me think. What exactly IS the goal of the Dice Tower? So I pondered it, and figured I would share my core goals of the channel with you. 1 – To promote board games. I think, and always have thought, that board games are an excellent and wonderful way to bring people together. They are educational, a stimulating workout of the mind, and create opportunities to bring families and people together in a fun, bonding way. Talking about board games is what we do – and that’s what our channel is about. Our channel is dedicated to discussing board games, and while we occasionally venture into other types of games or even pop culture topics, I want our space to be a joyful haven – one that assures you’ll find family-friendly, game-centric content. We also run conventions that we encourage EVERYONE to come to and enjoy. Everything we do, from producing videos, to running conventions, to promoting board games – is aimed at fostering growth and expansion within the hobby. 2 – To entertain. It’s weird to think of myself as an entertainer, because I’m not very funny; but I’ve surrounded myself with an amazing staff who excel at producing entertaining content for you all. I want to produce something that can be played in every household, and that the whole family can watch and enjoy. While a lot of work goes into videos, it’s so much fun to do them, and I hope that comes through. 3 – To inform. We’ve always striven to give our honest opinions on games. I realized that “honest” is a bit of a loaded word, because it often insinuates that others are NOT honest. But that’s not what we mean at all! We realize that it’s a tough row to nagivate, and even though we work with publishers and fans on multiple levels, we do our best to never let that affect our opinions on games. It’s easy to get caught up in hype, and in a world overflowing with board games – it can be confusing which ones are right for whom. Thus, we aim to give opinions as to what we think – not necessarily through critical analysis, but via our genuine gut feelings and reactions on games. And I’ve built a staff of diverse opinions to ensure that our viewers are exposed to a broad spectrum of thoughts about games. We endeavor to cover as many games as we can – and we do! My goal is that when you look up information on a game, someone from the Dice Tower has given you some information on it. 4 – To support our families. The Dice Tower YouTube channel and podcasts are free, and shall remain so. We earn income from advertising, YouTube, and our conventions, but our crowdfunding campaign is undeniably our largest revenue source. I have always been opposed to manipulating the crowdfunding system – where we could put an artificially low number so that we can enjoy “success”. Rather, the number we present is what we genuinely need to support my talented staff – who work diligently and passionately. We love our jobs, but they are just that – jobs, and the way I provide for my own family. 5 – And that’s essentially it! We are a gaming channel, and my goal is to keep it that way. We aren’t a political, religious, philosophical, or any other type of channel. Talk to me in person, and I have thoughts and opinions on many subjects. But that’s not what we want on the Dice Tower channel – we want it to be singularly about gaming. Each year when we run our campaign, there is a lot of negative comments that levied at us. This isn’t a “real job”/we were unfair to a game/we are in the pocket of publishers, etc. Despite I feel that our work stands on its own. I am proud of what we’ve done, and while we are indeed imperfect people, I believe we’ve created a Youtube channel, podcast, and conventions that are fun and safe for the entire family. I look back at where we started twenty years ago, and I hope you can see more improvements and ways we get better. Times are tough right now, and I certainly understand that many simply can’t afford to support our channel. I encourage you to continue to watch our content! We have another exciting, fun year of content we are planning out. But for those of you who can lend us your support us, we would be incredibly grateful if you consider contributing. We are very close to reaching our goal and we would love to continue the work we are passionate about. Check out our campaign at www.supportdicetower.com if you so desire. Regardless, thanks so much for reading this far, and I hope you have a wonderful day. Tom Vasel (2 months ago)

The solution is not to let Mike get the games. LOL Love the Dice Tower. Always check to see if they've covered a game I'm interested in.
