Growing up, we have been taught to fear the Middle East. Either directly or indirectly, we have been taught to fear the region, the people, the culture, the religion—all of it. Driving out to the desert in Qatar, we knew we were going to have some big fun in the sand dunes! But the experience turned out to be much more impactful. If there’s one thing we learned in our time in Qatar, it’s that we’re not all that different. We’re all humans. We’re all brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, parents and grandparents. At our core, we all want the same things. We all want to be safe. We all want to earn a living and provide for our families. No matter where in the world, we’re all doing our very best to navigate though life the best way we can. Hace algunos ayeres, me tocó dar el grito vacacionando en Francia. En el restaurante donde cenábamos estaban unos alemanes. Se acercaron y nos preguntaron el motivo del festejo. Les dijimos que celebrábamos la independencia de México. Les compartimos de nuestro tequila. Unas copitas después, ellos gritaban más fuerte que nosotros ¡VIVA MÉXICO!! Fue una experiencia inolvidable. ¡VIVA MÉXICO!!
