we have NEVER had any infections using this method, which is why we prefer it and recommend it. I'm sorry if you had a bad experience. Iodine would not be a bad idea.
Sparrow1138 (17 years ago)
Umm, we don't eat them. I think being slaughtered for meat is more painful than banding to prevent uncontroled breeding
SHAMROCKMIKE1 (16 years ago)
HI, would you have to give any kind shot like tetanus before or after or thats it.

If you can still fit them in the small banding ring than you can- Sometimes you have to place the testes in the spreader one at a time if they are too large to do together- A calf bander is a bit bigger and also works- they usually

To the pilot, I applaud you for doing your job. :) let this woman do hers. Neutering a male goat is the most humane thing to do for the herd and the goat itself. Male goats are aggressive, smelly, and dangerous for all involved with him. Making them wethers allows them to enjoy life in the herd and not become dinner.

It has to be done, unless you want to have urine and their sent all over you and your property...which STINKS.
bamchicklove (17 years ago)
I just did that to my goat today

i don't understand why people would neuter animals i think it's unfair animals arn't pets it's just what humans think it's sad to see how animals never get what they want in life always the people bossing over them doing what they want to them people need to give rights to animals
Wolfrick308 (15 years ago)
@animallover220 Animals don't have "rights" because animals don't have responsibilities. Domestic animals like these goats would not EXIST if they did not serve a purpose for human beings. A male goat, if allowed to mature sexually, is a very aggressive, dangerous animal, requiring a very strong fence and a strong-willed owner to control it. Castrating a male kid (which then becomes a wether) is a good way to extend that goat's life and keep it out of the freezer just that much longer.

oh yes I would if I kjnew it would help my kids.
